Winter Park is an incorporated city in Orange County, Florida, immediately north of downtown Orlando. It is centered around Park Avenue, Rollins College, and the Winter Park chain of lakes.
The Winter Park Chain is six lakes — Virginia, Mizell, Osceola, Maitland, Nina, and Minnehaha — connected by narrow Venetian-style canals dug in the late 1800s. The Venetian Canal, the longest, joins Lake Osceola to Lake Maitland. The chain is fully navigable by boat, and the scenic boat tour that has run on it since 1938 is the city's oldest attraction.
Frontage on Maitland, Osceola, or Virginia trades as much on the address and the tree line as on the water itself. The Isle of Sicily — a single island street reached by causeway off Lake Maitland — is the corridor where the market's trophy sales concentrate.
The Vias — Via Tuscany, Via Lombardy, Via Salerno and their neighbors on the city's north side — hold Spanish and Mediterranean revival homes on brick streets and are the most consistently expensive non-lakefront addresses in the city.
